Relax at Hearthside & Lighthouse...

What Our Guests Say

Out guests can speak far better than us about Hearthside and what you can expect from your stay here in Grantown on Spey.

"Brilliant house for a family group to stay. We love to cook……the kitchen was very well equipped and spacious enough for us all to muck in. Great access to the town and to numerous walks around the area. We brought our dog too and she had plenty of space to be inside and out. You’ll enjoy a stay here."

"Lovely rustic setting, a warm, clean and very spacious family accommodation with every possible amenity included. The house is literally a few minutes walk from shops, pubs, cafes and lovely walks. Our family ranged from 75 yrs old to 7 yrs old and all of us had a lovely week at this holiday location. I would definitely recommend this to others!"

"We stayed at Donald and Libby's place for a week during the May half-term. We are a family of 9. The house is very spacious. There was plenty of room - even for more guests. Every bedroom was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and the homemade bread and jam an extra treat! The location is perfect for visiting Aviemore and surrounding countryside/visitor attractions. Donald and Libby were great hosts, providing plenty of information about the area and making sure we had settled in OK. We would definitely recommend Hearthside and would love to return in the future."

"The house itself is so spacious and yet cosy. The pictures really don't do it justice, the whole house is so light and airy and there are so many large rooms packed in. The kitchen area is fantastic and well kitted out, but even better is the living room which we used to play board games in the evening."

"Fantastic accommodation with stunning surroundings. The house is perfectly situated in the forest by the river and close to town for amenities. Plenty of walks nearby in the forest - the perfect escape. The kitchen is well set up for home cooking and lounge area ideal for cosy nights by the fire. Large dining area for eating met our needs perfectly. We loved staying and would definitely recommend it."

“Donald and Libby's place is a real find, nestled in beautiful mixed wood land with a range of walks and bike tracks right on the doorstep. There is a private, enclosed garden, which isn't overlooked, where you can spot red squirrels. To top it off the homemade bread, jams and marmalade on arrival just made our stay all the more special.”
Jen & Kenny, Oct 2020

"Very large, bright family home from home. Perfectly located on the edge of fabulous dog friendly woods. A short stroll from the town which has a good variety of gift/craft shops as well as chemist, hardware & grocery stores."

Alison, Oct 2020

"Wonderful spacious clean and well stocked accommodation. Superb extra touches such as home made bread and jam on arrival and fresh flowers. The beds were super comfy and Donald and Libby were attentive and responsive hosts. They took all necessary precautions in respect of COVID guidance. The large safe garden was a godsend for our super active grandchildren."

"This is a great place to stay, with room for a large family or even two families. You have a very private setting looking onto the woods but only a few minutes walk from shops, pubs and restaurants. If you like walking or cycling there are plenty of routes on your doorstep to the Spey and beyond. We love this part of Scotland and Libby and Donald are well excellent hosts with plenty of local hints and tips that they are happy to pass on. We’d definitely stay there again."
